Forming the formal entrance of Windsor City Hall, Charles Clarke Square is a natural landmark and gathering place in Windsor's urban fabric. The design of the ice surface inspired by natural ponds that freeze over in the winter, where we as children would first learn to skate. The undulating curve of the perimeter allows learning skaters to have some ice surface outside of the main flow of more experienced skaters.
The surrounding hardscape and terracing was designed to visually integrate the revitalized courtyard into its surrounding urban context. The success of this urban space has led to corresponding design work with neighboring provincial properties, allowing for a broad-reaching network of green-space, pedestrian infrastructure, and designed focal points within the city's core.
