The new 12,000 square foot Rotary Home for Children and Youth serves the needs of children in crisis from the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent regions. The design parameters prioritized safety and security, while maintaining a warm atmosphere where rehabilitation could be fostered.
Lighting and material finishes were designed to feel warm and bright, while fixtures, spatial configurations and construction methods were selected and calibrated to maximize safety, security and visibility, and also to reduce the possibility of self-injury by inpatients.
