Within the next few years students in the Leamington area will be attending a new state of the art High School. Glos Associates Inc. Architectural and Engineering Consultants are presently in the process of designing the new complex to be located on Oak Street.

An erasing shield is a small metal plate which contains several small perforated holes of varying size and shape. Its purpose is to allow the user to erase small specific areas of a drawing while shielding adjacent areas from being smudged or erased. Although this practical tool is still used today, it has all but been replaced by the evolution of technology and more efficient CAD software allowing the user to erase with the click of a button.

|||1|||use_html=1| 1409764840|glosadmin|25 Years Ago|Development of a Training Centre on Fighting Island for BASF, a large multi-national Chemical firm. Fighting Island is a small Island in the Detroit River opposite the Town of LaSalle. A log structure theme was established by BASF for this development. Buildings were designed to include living areas for trainees, and a central building to house the dining/classroom areas. A great deal of research went into developing the authentic Canadian log structures. For this project we dealt with BASF in Wyandotte Michigan and accessed the island by private ferry from LaSalle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of a 3-year College Program in Civil Engineering Technology or other related program. Experience in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is preferred. A mastery of a variety of software programs would be considered valuable, and the ability to communicate effectively is mandatory.
{nl}{nl}The successful candidate must have two to three years of experience in the design and drawing production (to local regulations) of site plans and civil design plans (site plan development, site servicing and grading) for road/sewer projects, and building projects. A passion for site plan development would be a key asset. As well, experience in the area of storm water management calculations and site engineering is an strong complimentary asset we are looking for. Ability to be registered with related professional associations (OACETT or PEO) is preferred.

Wyandotte Town Centre Streetscape Competition - Our approach is to design an environment that promotes the business district by providing a pleasant and safe neighbourhood experience for pedestrians and cyclists in addition to the convenience of arriving by car. The improved neighbourhood will instill pride, celebrate diversity and enhance accessibility. It was a great competition and we ended up in third place.

In 1983 Glos Associates was approached by the US firm of PepsiCo located in Orlando Florida, to assist in developing the first Red Lobster Restaurant in Canada. We “Canadianized” their prototype design and provided the Engineering for the site work and other disciplines. This first Red Lobster Restaurant is still successfully operating today on Tecumseh Road East in Windsor.
The Ronald McDonald House Charity helps give sick children what they need most — their families.
{nl}{nl}Glos sent a team up to London, Ontario to contribute to the RMHC "Dinner at Our House" program by planning, preparing and serving a home-cooked meal to the families staying at the home during their child's hospital stay.
{nl}{nl}This trip held a special importance to our office, as the RMHC provided housing and meals to one of our own team members during their daughter's extended stay at the Sick Kids Hospital.
